How to start a Business

When you don’t want to work for somebody else, or when you have a great idea to market your own products, you can launch your own business. Starting a business takes certain risks with it, but can also give you some great benefits! We can all name a few successful business owners; Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Carlos Slim, Richard Branson and many more! But what do you need to do to start a business yourself?

When you want to start a business, there are a few things you need. Passion and thrive. Ow, and money… Because launching a business usually costs money. Maybe you’re wondering why you need a lot of money to launch a business. Well, usually when people start a business they will have to pay for: legal fees, licenses and permits, office space, equipment, memberships of clubs and many more expenses. The money that is required, traditionally, to launch a business, holds a lot of people back to actually start a business. But what if I tell you that you don’t need that much money?

Back in the days it was important to have an awesome looking office, so people could walk by and check your work. These days all we need is a virtual office, like a website which got your portfolio on it. A website is like an ol’ fashioned office, but way cheaper!  A good website will attract leads which will convert into prospects and then become customers. What you cannot do with an office is to analyze how many people see your office (leads), how many will get in and show interest (prospects) and how many actually buy (customers). With a website, you can analyze all kind of data, to improve your business with!

Without an office, you also don’t need to spend a lot of money on equipment to fill your office with. You can do business from your couch, your eating table or even in the park. When you want to start a business, think about everything that is really necessary, like a laptop for your administration (which can be uploaded to the cloud so you don’t carry hundreds of maps), a mobile phone to call your leads, prospects and customers and of course… Yourself! You don’t need anything else than that to start a business with. Keep your expenses low, but your activity high and you’ll see that more money is coming in than that there is going out, which means you will earn the profits!

So, how to start a business? Think of what you’d like to offer to your customers. Create a website which is looking good and gives the customer a safe feeling. Stay in touch with your leads, prospects and customers by mail, social media and phone – stay connected!
